To all students at Anderson University for Fall 2015.
Greetings from Information Technology Services!
Information Technology Services (ITS) provides computer support for AU students, faculty, and staff. I’d like to share some information that will help you use technology resources at AU. Even if you are a returning or non-residential student, please read the information below. You will find information on ITS resources as well as other helpful information.
ITS Ticket Tracking System: ITS has implemented a ticket tracking system which is found at http://helpdesk.anderson.edu. If you need assistance from ITS, click on the Submit a request link in the upper right corner. You will be prompted to login and provide us information on your request. You will be able to check back to see the status of your request and to communicate any additional information necessary for us to complete your request.
ITS Knowledge Base: Part of the new ticket tracking system is the ITS Knowledge Base at http://helpdesk.anderson.edu. Found in this Knowledge Base is helpful information you need to navigate and use AU electronic resources. Articles are continually being developed and added. If you cannot find what you are looking for or you would like to suggest an article, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
MyAU: This new portal at https://myau.anderson.edu is your link to Anderson University electronic resources. The portal is web based so there is no software to install on your computer. Links are available to many of the resources mentioned in this document as well as resources like AccessAU, Canvas, Moodle, and much more. You can also enable single sign on. For more information on MyAU, search for “MyAU” in the ITS Knowledge Base.
For new students, beginning August 22 your @anderson.edu email address will become your official campus email. Many offices and departments use this email address to communicate with students prior to the beginning of classes. It is important that you check it at least daily.
Network password: Your network account allows you to access resources such as MyAU, AccessAU, Canvas, and Moodle. If you are having problems logging into these resources or if you want to proactively change your network password, please visit the MyAU portal at https://myau.anderson.edu to reset your network password. Network passwords expire every 6 months.
RavenMail password: Your RavenMail account is separate from your network account so changing your network password has no effect on your RavenMail password. Visit the ITS Knowledge Base for instructions on changing your RavenMail password.
AccessAU: AccessAU is the web-enabled version of the AU administrative records system. Students can view their class schedules and grades, monitor degree progress, check chapel attendance and much more. AccessAU can be found in MyAU or directly at http://accessau.anderson.edu/.
Connecting a computer to the network: Student computers that meet certain requirements can connect to the Anderson University network. Check the ITS Knowledge Base for further information on instructions for connecting to the network and information on protection against malicious software. When you get to campus and are ready to connect your computer to the AU network, you can connect to the AUWireless signal or plug into an ethernet port. You will automatically be routed to the SafeConnect registration page. Read and carefully follow the on-screen directions.
Tech Support from ITS: We are happy to provide you with some technical assistance with your personal computer or device, but with a few restrictions. Primarily we provide assistance getting your device connected to the network. We do not make hardware repairs so if you have a hardware problem, you will need to seek assistance from the manufacturer or an outside vendor. We do provide assistance with virus removal, but not during the first week of classes due to the expected increased volume of calls. If you need help connecting to the network, you can search the ITS Knowledge Base, email us at email@example.com, stop by Decker 47, or call 765-641-4300. Beginning we will also take requests for assistance with virus problems.
Mobile devices (iPads, iPhones, Androids, etc.): When you get to campus and are ready to register your device, connect to the AUWireless signal and open a web browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). You will automatically be routed to our SafeConnect registration page. Enter your AU network account username and password and you will be passed through.
Printing and Copying: Any student wishing to print or copy to campus devices will need to deposit money on their print account. Copying and printing is $.05 per page, $.08 duplex; color is $.20 per page, $.38 duplex. Credit may be added at the University Library circulation desk and in ITS (Decker 47) during regular business hours. NOTE: All students can print from their own computers to any campus printer using WebPrint.
Use your AU ID card to login to Copier: Your AU ID card can be associated with your network username and password so all you have to do to copy is present your ID card to the ID card scanner on the copier. The first time you present the card near the scanner, you will be prompted to login with your network username and password. Subsequent presentations of the ID card to the scanner will automatically log you in.
Emergency Notification: Rave Mobile Safety is an emergency notification system available by subscription to members of the Anderson University community. To participate and update your contact information for alerts, go to http://alert.anderson.edu, login with your network username and password.
Visit the ITS Knowledge Base at http://helpdesk.anderson.edu for more information about all things related to computing at AU.
Looking forward to seeing you on campus soon!
