Lock/Unlock a Workstation


 Protect your computer using a screen saver password:

1.

Open Display in Control Panel.   (To open Display, click Start, click Control Panel, then click Display)

2.

On the Screen Saver tab under Screen saver, click a screen saver 

3.

Select the On resume, password protect check box.

Selecting the On Resume, password protect check box will lock your computer when the screen saver is activated.                                                                                                                  When you begin working again you will be prompted to type your password to unlock it. Your screen saver password is the same                                                                                                as your logon password. If you do not use a password to log on, you cannot set a screen saver password.

 

OR you can lock your workstation:

 

1.

Open Power Options in Control Panel.   (To open Power Options, click Start, click Control Panel, then click Power Options)

2.

On the Power Schemes tab under System standby, choose a time for your system to go into standby mode. I chose after 30 minutes. You can choose whatever works for you. 

3.

On the Advanced tab under Options, put a checkmark next to “Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby”
