There are two password categories: 1.) email (RavenMail) and 2.) everything else (AccessAU, Moodle, printing, etc.) Which do you want to change?
Ravenmail for students who have just registered: your temporary email password is Auxxxxxxx (case matters, uppercase A lowercase u) where the xxxxxxx is your AU ID#. This password will only work one time. As soon as you use it once, you will be asked to reset your email password. It must have one change of case, at least one letter, and at least one number.
Ravenmail passwords do not expire. The only circumstance where you would be asked to change your email password is if you call us to reset your email password. We set it as temporary so you can re- set it to what you want. Only new accounts or ITS reset accounts will be asked to change their email password. HOWEVER … it is a good idea to voluntarily change your email password periodically. This is just a good computer user habit to develop. No password should be forever. (click here for instructions on changing email password.)
All other passwords are linked to a single authentication service. You will have one password for everything other than email. Moodle, AccessAU, printing, etc. use this linked password. This password expires 180 days after the last reset. You can change it before the 180 days; but if you do nothing, it will expire on the 180th day. Once it expires, you will be unable to log in to the network resources used by all students.
To change your network (linked) password, go to http://MyAU.anderson.edu. You will be asked identifying information (username and ID#), then have the opportunity to change your password. Note the rules for password formation in the second paragraph of this page. Once you make the password change, wait a minute or so before you try to login again. (Some people like to use this short wait to go change their email password to match their network password.)
If, after changing your password, you still cannot log in … it could be that your account has “locked” due to too many unsuccessful attempts. This is a security feature. To get your account unlocked, please send an email to email@example.com using your AU email account for identification purposes.
